Oh, What a {Mother’s} Day!!!

Our 3-year-old son, Stinkpot, made yesterday a difficult day.  He simply woke up on the wrong side of the bed – at 3 in the morning!!! He burst into our room screaming at me, “You left me alone! You left me alone!

“Come here, Stinkpot.”

“NO! Go back to my room!’

He was inconsolable! Screaming and flailing on the floor.

Maybe it was a mistake on our part, but to encourage him to stay in his bed all night, the “Bed Fairy” brings candy if he wakes up in his bed in the morning.

WOW! He was NOT going to be anywhere but in his bed in the morning.

FosterDad took him back to his room and comforted him back to sleep. When Stinkpot woke again at 8 a.m., he seemed to be in a better mood…

But wait! There’s more!

After breakfast, he began a morning tirade, that kept us from attending church. (why risk him going off on his classmates?)

He finally took a morning nap, and the day went better.

When we were able to go to lunch, I made the decision again this year that I wanted my Mother’s Day lunch to be enjoyable so……

Enjoying Chuck E. Cheese. Isn't the baby getting big?

WE WENT TO CHUCK E. CHEESE!!!! Again this year.

(You MUST read about how FosterDad was upset at me last year for choosing Chuck E. Cheese for my Mother’s Day lunch)

It’s becoming a tradition.

How was your Mother’s Day????

Chuck e Cheese sounds better than fighting to keep your kids seated and quiet at a real adult restaurant :) Sounds like a good idea to me! There were quite a few years in our parenting when we only ate out (rarely)at fast food that included a “playland” …the tots played, we ate and visited…good time had by all.
A day will come when you can enjoy fine dining as a family I promise. Your post made me smile. Happy hard core Mother’s Day :)

Thanks, Carla, for the encouraging words. It’s comforting to know that we’re not the only ones. So you think we will be able to actually go to a restaurant someday even if we have all boys????

Good for you, Joy! Hopefully, I’ll have an easy day soon. Stinkpot didn’t take a nap at mothers day out today so we are in for another grumpy day.

Kids did have a good time. Our 20-month-old, Lil Bit, found a game he could play. But he doesn’t like the little rides. Thanks for joining in our journey!

What a great way to celebrate MD! Happy Mother’s Day Penelope. I hope to celebrate it someday, even in Chuck E Cheese ;)

Love Chucke E Cheese as a Mother’s Day lunch. Sometimes it is more fun to have happy kids and spend time as a family than it is to the more “traditional” Mother’s Day stuff. We spent all day gardening and playing in the backyard–not a fancy brunch or dressy outfit in sight!

My sentiments exactly! Let kids be kids! I wish we had a Lupe Tortilla around. The Mexican restaurant has sand & playground on site. Awesome!

Sounds like an interesting start, but an awesome finish to Mother’s Day! I’m glad you were able to redeem the day!

I love the idea of Chuck E Cheese for Mother’s Day. Wish I’d thought of it before. All about having fun as a mom and what better way then pizza and games with the kids.

Oh and, that’s a clever way to keep him in bed. I might have to try that as we have sleep issues. Wonder if she’d stay in her room until I got up for candy.
