ADOPTION NEWS!
We are going to court tomorrow! Yeah! We are moving, albeit, slowly, toward adoption of our 1-year-old foster boy, Lil Bit.
The birthmother has signed the paperwork for relinquishment of her parental rights. Everyone except her and the district attorney has signed the agreement for birthmother contact. [With advice from our attorney, we will send pictures and an update every May, and she is allowed a 3 hour visit in August with 30 days written notice. If she defaults the first year, there will be no subsequent visits.]
Hoping that the judge will order the termination of parental rights so Lil Bit’s case will be transferred to the adoption unit.
REUNITED (and it feels so good)
This weekend, I crashed attended the Class of 1980 reunion from my high school. The organizers had opened the reunion to classes of 1978-1982, but I did get a personal invitation from a couple of the organizers. Thanks Brenda and David!

If you’ve been following a while, you know that my hubby, Steve, and I are extremely frustrated with potty training our 3-year-old Stinkpot! {he believes potties are for sissies} Just this week, I asked him if he needed to use the potty. He looks at me with his typical smirk and says, {get this} -
“No, I poop in my pants. Ha! Ha!”
This is going to be some journey….

Congratulations! My DH and I hope to adopt one day, too. This is wonderful news!
Congrats on the adoption process! As for the little one not wanting to go potty, that was my 2nd child. Don't worry eventually he will not want to walk around with a mess in his pants.

Stopping over from the Miscellany Monday. Congratulations on your pending adoption. That is fantastic. Hang in there with the potty training. My eldest son was not fully trained until he was 4, and my 2nd son was potty trained 3 days before he started Kindergarten. I thought I would pull my hair out but I survived!

Sounds like we have similar stories! We are about 2 weeks out from being approved for foster care. We hope to make this the start of our family! So great to check out your story!

oh wow … I'll be praying for you! I just stopped over from Carissa's. My husband and I were foster parents in 2008. Sadly, the twins we had were given back to their birth parents… we had been hoping to adopt them. We moved cities and now are in the process of adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia and plan to sign up to do more foster care once we get our little one settled at home!

Yay! Good luck with the court date!!! Is this the termination hearing? I'm so happy for you to be moving forward with this. I think you made really great choices with the contact agreement as well. Oh, I totally have chills!!!
As for the potty training, I had the same problem. My ped told me to make it worth enough to him. So I told him we couldn't go back to Disneyland until he went in the potty. We went two days in a row, then after that he got smaller treats and now no treats. Worked like a charm!

Thanks for all your well wishes! This was a termination hearing where the birthmom had voluntarily relinquished her parental rights – however, the State forgot to bring all the signed documents.
Hubby will go to court next Tuesday, since I will be investigating the business of a very rude and obnoxious jerk.
Please say a quick prayer Tuesday at 9am for both me and Steve!
